Private passport and field notes

The panoramic explorer stores visited-stop identifiers and any field notes you type in your browser’s local storage. They stay on that device and are not submitted to the website. You can download a plain-text copy or erase all local passport data from the Passport panel.

Basic audience measurement

The site uses Google Analytics to understand general audience traffic, such as page visits, approximate device categories and broad traffic sources. Advertising features and Google Signals are disabled in the site configuration. Passport progress, field-note text and postcard images are not intentionally sent as analytics events.

Maps and directions

The travel map uses Google Maps. Opening the map or directions connects your browser to Google and is subject to Google’s privacy terms. A directions link may use your phone’s chosen map application. This release does not continuously collect or store your live location on the site server.

Digital postcards

The postcard tool captures the currently rendered panorama in your browser and adds a location label. The image is created locally. It leaves the browser only if you download it or deliberately choose a sharing destination.

Links to parks, agencies, attractions and tourism programs open third-party sites with their own privacy practices. Those links are provided so travelers can verify current information at its authoritative source.
